Last Saturday hundreds of women volunteered to build the framing for homes to be built in Hyde Park in Inglewood. The sound of power saws, hammers nailing, laughter and kindness could be heard all around. These woman came from businesses throughout Los Angeles to lend a helping hand to families in need. Habitat For Humanity of Greater Los Angeles together with Hollywood Habitat For Humanity and Lowes were the hosts of this inspirational event. In addition to some hard work, the women also had some fun. They got to decorate their hard hats, get silly in a photo booth, and were entertained by DJ Hope. A very inspiring element of the day was seeing young girls coming out to work with their mothers. The seeds of charitable service were certainly being planted this day.We are proud of the relationship we have with the organization and especially our connection with Greater Los Angeles staff. We have produced 15 events for them over the years. One in particular was a 5 day event in which required us to serve 3,000 guests breakfast and lunch over those 5 days, in two separate locations in Los Angeles. Keeping the relationship strong has been a passion for our Event Producer Veronica Medrano. She not only assists them in planning their events, but also volunteers her time and talents to them whenever she can, most recently at this Power Women Power Tools Event.

The Mission of this organization is to give families a hand up, not a hand out. In order to qualify for a home, the family must donate 400 community service hours, take classes on budgeting, and have steady income. Not only do they receive a home, but a mortgage. They actually become home owners who work hard for the home that is built for them. On this day one such homeowner spoke from the podium about the pride she has been given, and was there to help build the next home for another family. It was heartwarming to know that all in attendance truly were making a difference in the lives of families who may never own a home otherwise. After all, isn't that part of the American Dream?Summit_Event_Catering_Habitat_For_HumanitySummit_Event_Catering_Habitat_For_HumanitySummit_Event_Catering_Habitat_For_Humanity

In addition to framing, volunteers built playhouses that will be enjoyed by children who will reside in the homes.

All building materials, hammers, nails, saws and more were donated by Lowes. Other sponsors for the day included Burgner Experiental Inc., Duane Morris, Paul Mitchell Schools, Platinum Equity, Variety Magazine, Sony Pictures, Albertson & Vons, American Rentals, and Pepsico. If you want to learn more about how to volunteer of donate to Habitat For Humanity, click on this link.
