Edna - The Woman, The Myth, The Legend!

We are excited to announce a new installment to our blog. Each month we'll be featuring our Employee of The Month in a blog post. Our employees are the life blood behind our company, and we couldn't provide the cuisine and service we're famous for without them. In January we begin with the secret behind our desserts. By now you've experienced our FAMOUS ALMOND BREAD PUDDING and our HOME-MADE BROWNIES. Our decadent bread pudding has become a obsession for some. It's a guilty pleasure that consists of melt-in-your-mouth layers of sweet bread, custard, caramel, airy whipped cream and a varied choice of toppings. Not to be forgotten are our home-made TRIPLE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES that bring a new meaning to comfort food. And don't forget about our mouth watering CREME BRULEE. How does all this magic happen you ask? We have a secret weapon in the kitchen and her name is Edna Villalobos, Without further adieu enjoy her story and her journey with Summit Event Catering.Edna Villalobos is Summit's longest tenured employee. She began working with us in 1987 as a cashier when we were called Hubba Hubba Cafe. As the cafe grew, Edna's role expanded into catering deliveries and serving on special catered events. Moving forward to 1994 as our catering division grew, she headed up our floral and decor department and eventually supervised our linen operations. From 1994 to now she has created our most beautiful and memorable centerpieces. She is always searching for new creative and cutting edge designs. Her office is filled with magazines and she can regularly be found pouring over photos for inspiration during her breaks.We've come a long way and Edna has been there with us every step of the way. Edna is currently responsible for baking our best desserts including but not limited to our famous Almond Custard Bread Pudding, Tahitian Lime Crème Brule and our Triple Chocolate Brownies to name but a few. Her ability to consistently prepare quality desserts every time is a testament to her passion for what she does. She loves making people happy through her desserts and it shows.Edna is our most loyal and trusted employee who takes great pride in her work. She's an example to all of our employees, and she sets the standard for us all. We can't remember the last time Edna was sick. In fact, she never gets sick. She is always on the job and ready to do whatever it takes to get the job done for our clients. Her dedication to her craft is evident through her infectious can-do attitude. Edna is a true team player who steps in to help wherever she is needed. Our owners Greg Wellburn and Duane Dotts trust Edna unconditionally with anything and everything.Edna's love for her family is inspiring. She had a grown daughter who is married and a grandchild that means the world to her. Her mother was actually a counter assistant in our cafe! Edna exemplifies our values and ethics. She is what Summit is all about. We greatly appreciate everything that she's done for us and continues to do day in and day out. THANK YOU EDNA! We are so humbled that you're part of our family.
