DIY Backyard Brunch
Wedding Spotlight: DIY Backyard Brunch
AN “OUT OF THE BOX” NEW BEGINNINGS STORY
2020 has created many limitations, but it can never take away love. While some couples have chosen to postpone their weddings, others are spontaneous and marry in a matter of weeks. That being said, practicality and creativity have been at an all-time high.
Recently, we have been constantly amazed by the innovations of the brides, grooms, wedding planners, and our staff alike as the “I Do” becomes true. In today’s Summit Story, we will highlight a DIY backyard brunch that tells a unique and creative new beginnings story.
So let’s begin!
The Courthouse Wedding
In lieu of a weekend wedding, the bride and groom decided to marry mid-week at the courthouse; and instead of all-day preparations, they wed at 8 AM!
The benefit? It put less pressure on the ceremony, and more emphasis on celebrating their marriage with loved ones. The courthouse wedding was followed by a 10 AM brunch in their own backyard with 30 attendees, and a very cute dog!
The table set up was simple yet elegant, with gold tones and bright greenery.
The Backyard Brunch
The beauty of brunch is that it provides guests the opportunity to indulge in the best of both worlds: delicately designed breakfast classics, or gourmet and flavorful lunchtime dishes. The bride and groom, along with our event producer Pam Aki, created a well-balanced mix of options for guests.
For the Breakfast Fans: Traditional French toast; Scrambled Eggs with jack and cheddar cheese; Avocado Toast with siracha and a radish slice topped with crème fraiche; and a Vegan Tofu Scramble.
Breakfast Accompaniments: Crispy bacon and turkey sausage; a vegan Italian sausage; and rosemary roasted red potatoes.
For the Lunch Lovers: A grilled Chinese Chicken Salad: sweet marinated chicken, grilled red and green peppers, bean sprouts, pea pods, mushrooms, and a sesame vinaigrette.
Lunch Accompaniments: Vegetarian Egg Rolls and a fresh Fruit Salad.
What is DIY?
DIY stands for “Do It Yourself.” While our services were still extremely attentive, the bride and groom wanted a “hands off” approach, where guests can walk around and select what breakfast or lunch items they wanted before sitting down to enjoy.
How was this accomplished?
We broke it up into stations! For example, the eggs, potatoes, and meats were in their own section. French toast had its own area, while the lunchtime items were grouped together and displayed on towers.
The goal was to create space in between guests in order to be COVID safe. As a result, it also added to the “simple yet elegant” look of the brunch. Everything was not only carefully designed but displayed with flawless presentation.
Furthermore, everything was disposable! The Chinese Chicken Salad was placed in individual containers. Similarly, the avocado toast and vegetarian egg rolls sat in single sized, eco-friendly bamboo boats. Even the chargers were made from bamboo!
The Backyard Brunch proved that there is room for new traditions. Whether its DYI, a sit-down service, or both, we want to hear all of your ideas. While there’s a wedding checklist, we still encourage you to think outside of the box. We’re ready for it!
