Venue Spotlight

LA River Studios

The Summit Team has been working hard to gain a stronger foothold in Los Angeles. As word spread in the Greater Los Angeles area about our innovative cuisine and our obsession for customer service, more and more venues are inviting us to partner with them. One such venue is LA River Studios. This property is a versatile space with an urban industrial vibe. It’s a blank slate that can be anything you can imagine it can be. Owned and managed by The Vox Group means no detail has been left to change. They are experts at Production Services including AV & Lighting. We’re dying to tell you all about the details of this exciting property, but it would be unfair to our friend Lauren Morrison, Sales Director of LA River Studios. She graciously took  time out of her busy schedule to tell us a bit about her property. We love her passion for the space and the clients she serves. Take it away Lauren:

What is the history of your venue? Located in the heart of the burgeoning LA River Arts Corridor, LA River Studios is the reimagination of a vintage-era “bow & truss” factory warehouse into stunning creative studios.

The expansive 1931 brick building was the original casting and assembly factory for the Smith-Miller Company, a vintage diecast toy truck replica manufacturer throughout the 40s & 50s.  Beginning in the early 50s the owners transitioned their skilled workers and machining equipment to manufacturing high-quality metal pulleys under the trade name Withrow Brothers and continued to do so for some 30 years.  The building lay dormant and untouched for three decades until the spring of 2014.  VOX Productions was scouring the east side of LA in search of a permanent home and stumbled upon the dilapidated structure in sore need of repair. VOX saw the building’s potential and rich history and knew the space could be revitalized and its former glory restored.

How many guests can you accommodate for Ceremony and Reception? It depends on the location within the venue, but generally speaking, we can host up to 250 for ceremony and/or reception.

Do you provide In-House Catering? No, we have a list of preferred caterers that we work with who know our space well, like yourselves.  That being said, any outside vendor is allowed, subject to approval.

Is parking provided on-site? We have a back-patio lot that can hold up to about 15 cars stacked, however, there are plenty of parking lots nearby. We can secure up to 400 spaces; pricing ranges between $2-$5 per space.

Do you book more than one event per day?  I guess it’s possible but not likely.  Most clients utilize our whole space.

What is your favorite feature of your venue? There’s too many to count! The exposed brick walls; our wood, bow truss ceiling; the vintage chicken wire glass windows, most original to the building; our new black aluminum/ black laminate glass garage roll up doors; the state-of-the-art AV equipment built into our venue provided by VOX Productions.

Give us the top three reasons why couples should book your venue for their wedding/reception.

  • We are a super unique space – truly a vintage venue with all the right modern touches.

  • We offer a lot of flexibility including outside catering and BYOB options to accommodate all budgets.

  • We have a super amazing team! We are owned by VOX productions, a full-service production company and can also offer all of the lighting, sound, staging, DJ, photo booth, décor and furniture elements you may need in-house at very competitive rates.

Thanks for the interview Lauren. We agree with all of the reasons why your venue is perfect for weddings, social, and corporate events. If you liked this spotlight and want to learn more about L.A. River Studios, call our Los Angeles office and set up a tour. We look forward to showing it to you.
