Event Production, Specialized Menus, Exceptional Service. These are the hallmarks of what we do at Summit Event Catering. But we're also rooted in community service. Last month, the stars aligned to allow us to produce a spectacular event, and be part of a non-profit organization that gives back to the greater community. URBAN COMPASS, a Non-Profit Organization based in Los Angeles turned to us for our expertise in producing a 10 Year Anniversary celebration and fundraiser titled "The Best Is Yet To Come", that would showcase their mission.Urban Compass operates after school and summer programs at Verbum Dei High School to serve students from 112th Street Elementary School and Sage Child Care Center. They provide tutoring support, enrichment activities and field trips to keep the children engaged in a positive learning experience – and off the streets.To celebrate 10 years of serving at-risk youth, and to honor them, they envisioned a Rat-Pack themed gala to be held at the iconic LOS ANGELES RIVER CENTER AND GARDENS. Event Producer Veronica Medrano worked with Urban Compass representatives to design and produce an event that would dazzle their guests. We were tasked with creating branding for the event, a customized menu, entertainment, lighting and interactive stations.The "Frank Sinatra - Rat Pack" theme was present at every turn. The customized logo for the event was displayed on video screens, menus, table decor, and even as menu markers. Guests were entertained by a Rat-Pack style band complete with crooner and a bass player who actually toured with "Old Blue Eyes". Tray Passed Appetizers:
  • Thin Sliced Filet Mignon, Arugula, Smoked Provolone, served on a Toasted Baquette with Creamed Horseradish and Drizzled with White Truffle Oil.
  • Coconut Beer Battered Shrimp with Tangerine Mustard Dipping Sauce
  • Blue Cheese Stuffed Beef Sliders
  • Crisp Endive Spears filled with Goat Cheese, Figs and Pecans and garnished with Dried Cranberry
Beef Martini Station:
  • Braised Short Rib, laced with Peppercorn Demi Glaze and served on top of a bed of Garlic and Chive Mashed Potatoes
Fish Station:
  • Soy and Sake infused Chilean Sea Bass on a bed of Saffron Rice
  • Grilled Fresh Asparagus Spears with Aged Manchego Cheese drizzled with Walnut Oil

Vegetarian Station:

  • Butternut Squash Ravioli with Sage Butter Sauce
  • Arugula and Bibb Lettuce Salad with Sliced Red Anjou Pears, Blue Cheese Crumbles and Candied Pecans with Drizzled Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette and Pacetta on the side.

In the words of Dean Martin, "ain't that a kick in the head?" Indeed it was and so much more!
