Here we are again at Crafted at The Port of Los Angeles for a second consecutive day. We're feeling pretty lucky to work there twice in one week and for such large groups. Large events and mega events are where we excel and from the photos and food stations on this beautiful day, you can see why. Our event producer Pam Aki pulled off two days of seamless events with a team that showed precision and dedication. This event served 500 guests. Our client, The LAUSD Board of Education worked with Pam to plan their annual Heroes in Education Awards. This wonderful event recognizes educators, students, and citizens in the community who have made a contribution to the schools in the district. A notable winner was the oldest hero of the night! At 92, Mrs. Virginia Rios from The 156th Street Elementary School and has been an valued member of the school community for over 30 years. As if that wasn't notable enough, she has only missed 2 days of work throughout that time. That's definitely our kind of hero!More than an award ceremony, the event was sponsored by Board Member, Richard Vadovic, Corrdinated by Geralyn Buscaino, and the Master of Ceremonies was Councilman Joe Buscaino, 15th District, City of Los Angeles. A few highlights included a duet performed from the Musical Wicked, and a dance routine "No Matter Where You Are" by Narbonne High School Students. To end the evening's festivities, the Dana Middle School Marching Band, Flag Team and Cheerleading Squad marched right through the space and wowed the guests to great fanfare. Our menu was set up in stations around the room that promoted movement and conversation. They were:Station 1: Oven Roasted Quesadilla Rolls with Smoked Chicken, Sharp Cheddar Cheese & Cilantro, served with Avocado Tomatillo Dip; Teriyaki Pineapple Chicken Satay; Coconut and Beer Battered Shrimp with Tangerine Mustard Dip; Crab Cakes with Lemon Aioli and Micro GreensStation 2: Garlic Crusted Choice Beef Slices that were slow roasted for 7 hours, and laced with Black Peppercorn Sauce, on a bed of Garlic Mashed Potatoes. This dish was served in Chinese To Go Boxes, making them portable and easy to carry as guests mingled.Station 3: Penne Pasta with Tri-Colored Peppers, Zucchini, Onions, Fresh Garlic and Black Olives, with a Basil Pesto Sauce; 3 Cheese Macaroni with Buffalo Chicken finished with Golden Parmesan Bread Crumbs.Station 4: BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders on Brioche Bun, and Sweet Potato Fries with Chipotle Ketchup.Station 5: Assorted Mini Desserts of Lemon Berry Bars, Apple Cobbler Bars and Raspberry Torte, Fresh Baked Brownies, and Fresh Baked Cookies. We wish a special thank you to OC Events for the beautiful upgraded linens.
