Highway 39 - #ThrowbackToTheFuture

Event39-1Event39-2 Event39-3VidCon is a multi-genre online video conference, held annually in Southern California since 2010. In addition to the main conference, there are many off-site events that take place throughout the event. One such event was Rise 9's #ThrowbackToTheFuture held at Highway 39 Event Center in Anaheim and presented by Diply. Rise 9 is a community of influencers in the digital community created by YouTube stars Alex Negrete and Zack James. They held this party to bring together and celebrate that community. Our Event Catering Director, Tyler Huff worked with Rise 9 to create a menu that matched the theme of #ThrowbackToTheFuture, paying homage to the classic film Back To The Future. The traditional and casual American fare included tray passed Mini Corn Dogs served with Ketchup, Mustard and Relish. You can see in the images by Jeremy Lucero of Lucero Photography that these were a huge hit. We couldn't get them on the floor fast enough!Event39-10Event39-12 Event39-13 Event39-15 Event39-17 Event39-18 Event39-19Event39-32Event39-34 Event39-35 Event39-36 Event39-40 Event39-41 Event39-42 Event39-44 Event39-47 Event39-51 Event39-54Highway 39 Event Center is an automobile museum filled with vintage cars and memorabilia. So it made sense that Tyler would create an interactive food station in the shell of a mint condition classic pick up truck. Every angle of the truck was used to house the following menu:

  • All-Beef Hamburgers and Cheeseburgers grilled over Mesquite and served on a freshed baked bun and accompanied by Sweet Red Onion, Lettuce Cups, Fresh Slice Tomato, Crisp Bacon (because everything is better with bacon), Guacamole, Sliced Jalapeno, Pepper Jack, Swissh and American Cheese. And of course every condiment was available.
  • 60's Style Hot Dogs with Fresh Baked Buns served with Diced Onions, Ketchup, Mustard and Relish
  • Traditional French Fries served with Ketchup and Mustard
  • Seasoned Onion Rings with a smoked Chil Aioli and Ranch Dressing

What a burger and fried without a traditional drink to accompany it? We would say it's a travesty. So Tyler solved that problem by providing a Soda Float Bar! It was served diner style with Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream and Root Beer or Cola. Because these guests were truly unique individuals, we wanted the to have a choice.Event39-52 Event39-55 Event39-56 Event39-57 Event39-63 Event39-68 Event39-75 Event39-79 Event39-82 Event39-84 Event39-85 Event39-92 Event39-99Overall this event was a huge success! From the movie, an actual Delorean was set up as a photo booth. That's right folks.....guests jumped right in and had a photo to prove it! Gibson had a tour bus that you could step inside and experience the history of this amazing guitar company. All around the space were the museum's vintage vehicles which everyone enjoyed. For more interaction our friends at Ice Bulb created a SkeeBall game made entirely of ice that actually worked! We can truly say that every sponsor raised the bar for the night. As if all of this wasn't enough Live.Me had a lounge where guests were interviewed and streamed live throughout the evening. Other sponsors included iBlossom, G2A.com, Mashable and Cocktail Concierge. Guests jammed along with The Flux Capacitors, and threw it way back with Pop/Hip-Hop singer Aaron Carter. Carter had everyone singing along with some of his old tunes and new ones from his upcoming album. This was such a fun event for our staff, many of which were in attendance if not actually serving. Sometimes you just need a little throwback to help you blow off some steam! We hope to help you create your next outside of the box event!Save
